On
this page you will see work being done on the roof beams (vigas).
The
delivery of the strawbales in late fall! Unfortunately that means work has
come to a halt. The snows have come, and the wind.... can you say wind generator?
With
the addition of strawbales on the property, another badger has moved in near
the stack of bales. I expect that we can co-habitate in peace and that the
rodents will be enough to keep him, or her, fat and happy!
Sometimes
I find 4 legged animals easier to be around... :o) When backpacking,
the least of my fears are from animals... maybe by the time the strawbales
are on the walls, the rodents won't have such a large playground or nursery
around the bales and the badger(s) will move on too... ha!
We've
also begun clearing two dense acres of land for aspen and pine trees. Plenty
of wood for the stove and lots of long slender poles for some "natural"
border fencing. Best of all... are the standing dead trees we will get for
the roof support beams! All free, other than the time it takes to cut and
haul it off. No
live trees are being cut.
The vigas (beams)
are here. We noticed more strange looking beetles around... pine beetles
This placement worked well for
skinning.
Beam placement. The steel roof
was delivered... at left.
Jedi & Melee make a draw blade to skin the trees. It worked great!
A rasp was used to finish the job.
Skinned & sealed for winter
we chose to leave the colors of the "under-bark"
Time's a wastin'
and the colors are a changing'... but Jed has a new truck! :o)

Things to do when
you're "tired"... and it's really wet!
Sasha
keeps watch...
Sasha's new coat... it's sooo cold out there! ...and we Love cats...
Jed
is da Man! He built this composting toilet from plans from The Humanure
Handbook, by Joseph Jenkins. We are finding out what off-grid truly means...
in every way! Life can work very well, very simply and very affordably!! But
government is the driving agent against TRUE low-income housing!
This work makes
muscles!
